The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII extended assistance to affected LGUs by conducting geological hazard assessments after a series of earthquakes and aftershocks jolted South Central Mindanao in a span of a few weeks.

Geological hazard assessment determines potential geologic hazards and their possible impacts to the community. These assessment results are used to generate geological hazard maps that identify areas that may be highly susceptible to landslide and flood. The maps may then be utilized in planning evacuation routes, forced evacuation areas and safe resettlement sites.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII participated in the Joint Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) XII and Cotabato Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on November 6, 2019 at Amas, Kidapawan City.

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año and Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III graced the meeting together with the presiding chairman of RPOC XII, Province of Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto “Teng” T. Mangundadatu, Province of Cotabato Acting Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza, Regional Directors, LGU Mayors and other Council members.

The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of South Cotabato chaired by the MGB XII OIC, Regional Director, awards the Small-Scale Mining Contract (SSMC) on October 17, 2019 to the DESAWO INTEGRATED SMALL-SCALE MINING ASSOCIATION, INC. (DISSMAI), an association duly organized and existing under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. DISSMAI is a small-scale mining association majority composed of T’boli Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and residents of T’boli South Cotabato

The SSMC covers an area of 20 hectares located within the declared People's Small-Scale Mining Area (PSSMA)/Minahang Bayan located at Barangay Desawo, T’boli, South Cotabato.

MGB-12 Integrated Management System (IMS) Internal Auditors and Quality Environment Safety and Health Management Team (QESHMT) members went an Internal Auditors’ Training conducted by AGF Consulting Group at the MGB-12 Conference Room on October 2-3, 2019 in Koronadal City. Mr. Jong Fernandez, President of AGF Consulting Group, facilitated the training.
