Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII Regional Director Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr. convened on September 4, 2020 at the MGB XII Conference Room, Koronadal City, the organizational meeting of the South Cotabato Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) created under Item VII, Section 1 of DENR Administrative Order No. 2020-07, “Rationalizing Dredging Activities in Heavily-Silted River Channels pursuant to the DENR-DPWH-DILG-DOTR Joint Memorandum Circular No.1 Series of 2019” (JMC 2019-01).

MGB XII REACHES OUT TO BARANGAY SAN ISIDRO FLASH FLOOD VICTIMS

On August 7, 2020, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII extended assistance to the affected families of Barangay San Isidro in Koronadal City after heavy rains and flash floods swept the area on July 28, 2020.
A total of 145 families were affected leaving 15 families homeless as their houses were damaged by the flash flood. These displaced families were prioritized during the distribution of basic commodities donated by MGB XII employees that included kitchen utensils, food packs and unused clothings.

MGB XII HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING FOR SMALL-SCALE MINERS IN T’BOLI, SOUTH COTABATO.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII conducted a 1-day capacity building and training for small scale miners, operators, and contractors in coordination with Desawo Integrated Small Scale Miners Association, Inc. (DISSMAI) on August 6, 2020 in Barangay Poblacion, T’Boli, South Cotabato.
Engr. Mikel P. Ansao, OIC-Mine Management Division welcomed the participants as he delivered the rationale of the activity. “This activity should be a platform to impart and provide the Small-Scale Mining sector a better understanding of and prepare necessary reports effectively”.

MGB XII HOLDS WEBINAR ON PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES TOWARD DISASTER- RESILIENT COMMUNITIES

In observance of the 2020 National Disaster Resilience Month, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII conducted a Webinar on MGB Programs and Activities Toward Disaster- Resilient Communities on July 30, 2020 via Zoom application.
“We have to understand that there are geohazards and threats” MGB XII Regional Director Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr. said during his opening message. He reiterated the importance of knowing what geohazards are and their impact to the community. “In understanding geohazards, we will be able to determine how to cope and adjust to what is happening around us” he added.

RD Gacad together with DENR XII Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer, Assistant Regional Executive Director (ARED) for Technical Services Engr. Mama G. Samaon, and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) XII RD Engr. Omar M. Saikol discussed with the media the agency’s transition of new leadership and the department’s updates on its environmental programs and projects.
