We would like to emphasize to the public to be aware of the geohazards in your area, by checking out our maps that are uploaded in our Web Portal (tinyurl.com/MGB-Geohazard-Portal) and other platforms such as DOST-PHIVOLCS' HazardHunterPH (hazardhunter.georisk.gov.ph).

GEOHAZARD ADVISORY. Based on 24-Hour Mindanao Weather Forecast from PAGASA issued at 5:00AM of December 13, 2021, Dinagat and Surigao Provinces will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Shear Line. Rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to north will prevail over the eastern section of Mindanao with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds from northeast to north with slight to moderate seas. This inclement weather may trigger landslides in elevated and mountainous areas and wide-spread flooding along low-lying areas adjacent to river systems of the northern portion of Mindanao River Basin particularly Libungan River System and Rio Grande de Mindanao River System may bring floods downstream possibly affecting the municipalities of Libungan, Alamada, Banisilan, Carmen, Pikit, Kabacan, Midsayap, Arakan, Antipas, Pigcawayan, and President Roxas, Province of Cotabato.
This Office encourages the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (LDRRMOs) in the region to refer to the MGB-XII geohazard maps and information in identifying safe areas for evacuation and appropriate evacuation routes. Utilization of these maps and data to properly inform residents living in geologically hazardous areas to take precautionary measures is highly encouraged.

The Mines and Geociences Bureau XII donated gallons of alcohol, boxes of face mask and a thermal scanner to Esimos Cataluna Elementary School in support of the Department of Education campaign dubbed as Brigada Eskewela in Koronadal City.

MGB XII personnel was welcomed by Ms. Farnaida A. Kawit, the School Head and Ms. Zoraida Lucman Abubacar from DepEd Koronadal City Division. Ms. Kawit reiterated the needs of the school for improvement on the construction of the clinic and fencing.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII organized a 2-day training workshop on Bamboo and Ornamental Planting in partnership with the Tribal Mining Corporation (TMC) and Municipal Tourism Office of T’boli on November 3-4, 2021, at Brgy. Poblacion, T’boli, South Cotabato.

The training participants were women from Barangays of Desawo, Kematu, Poblacion, and Edwards in T’boli. Mr. Rodel E. Hilado,RSW, MDMG, Senior Tourism Officer of T’boli facilitated the said activity. A rationale of the activity was presented by Mr. Hilado as he also presented the different types of Hubs that includes Bamboo Hubs, Ornamental Hubs Fruit Bearing Tree Hub, Seedlings Hub and Community Garden.

Mr. Gene Tolondon from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of T’boli discussed the importance of Bamboo and how significant it can be to the environment. He also proceeded in executing an actual bamboo sprouts cuttings and how it should be planted. As a support of MENRO to the activity, they had given bamboo seedlings to the participants and encourage them to plant it in their backyards.
