The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII Regional Director Efren B. Carido virtually received the Safety Seal Certification of MGB XII during the RIATF-EID XII and RTF-COVID 19 XII meeting on January 12, 2022, in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The Safety Seal Certification is given to government offices, private organization and establishments that strictly observes minimum public health standards (MPHS) for public safety. It is assesed by the Safety Seal Inspection team composing of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No.21-01 s. 2021 Re: Implementing Guidelines of the Safety Seal Certification Program.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII through the Mine Management Division conducted a Capacity Building and Training for Local Government Units in Region XII on December 2, 2021, via online Zoom application.

A total of thirty-six (36) personnel from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Provincial Environment and Management Office (PEMO), City ENRO, and Municipal ENRO participated in the activity. The webinar aims to reinforce and improve technical capabilities and capacities, as well as to provide for a smoother transition of the LGU to deliver their devolved duties related to mining.

In his opening message, MGB XII Regional Director Efren B. Carido presented the rationale of the activity. He added that the capabilities of the LGUs need to be enhanced and strengthen to increase their potentials in accordance with the authority granted to them under the Local Government Code and under the DENR DAO 92-30 which states the Guidelines for the Transfer and Implementation of DENR Functions Devolved to the Local Government Units.

Furthermore, he said that the webinar will capacitate and equip ENROs in preparation of the devolved transition plan (DTP). It is also a venue to share experiences and knowledge on policies within their area of responsibility.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau believes that an informed populace is vital in truly attaining disaster resilience. With this, we advise the public to equip themselves with knowledge on What to Do BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER flood and rain-induced landslide events through these updated posters.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII conducted various activities in observance of the 18-Day Campaign on Violence Against Women (VAW) with a theme “Filipino Marespeto; Safe Spaces, Kasali Tayo” highlighting the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313 or SSA) among the public as well as the organizations tasked with enforcing the law.

On November 25, the Gender and Development (GAD) focal of MGB XII, Ermelyn Jane P. Celindro, facilitated the launching of the “Let’s Make this a Safe Space” with the hashtag #SanaAllSpacesSafe ground campaign. All MGB XII personnel committed to make all spaces especially on their workplaces a safe place in all gender-based related violence through a pledge provided by the Philippine Commission for Women (PCW).
