The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees’ Association (MGBEA) in Region XII conducted its first General Assembly for CY 2022 on August 16, 2022, in the Bureau’s Conference Room.

At least 70 MGB XII employees gathered to discuss the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) between MGBEA and the management. Some of the provisions were the rights and obligations of the MGBEA and the management in ensuring the welfare and safety of employees in the workplace.

The CNA is aimed to promote efficiency and productivity within MGB employees through holistic support, harmonious working relationship and better employment that enables them to work in unity.

Engr. Maimona A. Mamao, the concurrent President of MGBEA XII, presented plans for the association such as employees’ educational program, employee’s economic benefits, incentives & package, calamity assistance and employees’ welfare, professional development, and livelihood opportunities.

Unanimously the employees suggested an emergency loan must be available for the members aside from its regular loan. The said suggestion was taken into consideration by the officers of MGBEA XII and the Management. Another suggestion was an income generating plan which will be crafted by the employees as additional savings if pursued successfully for the benefit of the members.

According to MGB, MGBEA is considered one of the oldest existing employee's unions within the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)

Engr. Maimona A. Mamao, the MGBEA president, explained the pros and cons of creating an emergency loan for the members.
