The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII installed one landslide warning signage in Barangay Noa and Barangay Bagumbayan in Magpet, Province of Cotabato on May 11-12, 2021.

The signage, “BABALA: ANG LUGAR NA ITO AY DELIKADO SA LANDSLIDE,” is located along the national highway along the boundaries of the said barangays. The area is one of the identified areas as landslide prone that can be triggered by both earthquake and strong rainfall.

The activity was coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Magpet headed by Engr. Donald Homez. The MDRRMO facilitated the proper installation while materials like cement, sand, water, and manpower were provided by the local government of Magpet.

Geohazard warning signages serve to increase community awareness that enables them to take precaution in traversing roads susceptible to landslide.

MGB XII had installed landslide and flood warning signages in the region in line with the government’s efforts in reducing and mitigating destructive impacts of natural hazards.

MGB XII personnel together with the staff of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Magpet installed the landslide warning signage.
