The Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII underwent the off-site Integrated Management System (IMS) 2nd Surveillance Audit via teleconferencing by the Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIPI) on September 7, 2020 in Koronadal City.

Sarabia assessed the maintenance and effectiveness of MGB XII’s IMS particularly on the requirements of the standards for ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Administration Series).
The audit started with an opening meeting with the external auditors and MGB XII personnel led by Regional Director Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr..Three (3) boardrooms were prepared intended for different areas of assessment. Scanned files and uploaded documents were provided for the external auditors as a mode of verification in their assigned areas.
“Based on the assessment and the findings obtained, we can say that we can recommend MGB XII for a continued certification.” Amata said during the closing meeting. The findings of CIPI auditors include opportunities for improvement and one minor non-conformity.
MGB XII committed to comply with the needed requirements to address the non-conformity within thirty (30) days upon the receipt of the CIPI audit report.
“The findings and comments of the audit report are well taken and we know that it is a part of a bigger challenge of MGB XII for improvement. We give our commitment that we will act on all of these so that we can provide a better system that we can continue to improve on as we move forward.” RD Gacad said after the CIPI auditors disclosed the findings. He also lauded the efforts of MGB XII employees for their significant contributions in making the IMS 2nd Surveillance Audit a success.
MGB XII is gearing up for a transition from OHSAS 18001:2007 to ISO 45001:2018 Certification.
