1ST CY2021 MANAGEMENT TEAM MEETING
Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII key officials led by OIC, Regional Director Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr. convened in a management meeting on January 6, 2021 and discussed its CY2020 performance and directions for the new year.
Designated planning officer Engr. Ralph John Ligas presented the 2020 Accomplishment of MGB XII and reported that all targets were fully accomplished except for some demand driven activities where stakeholders were unable to submit compliance requirements due to restrictions imposed by the national and local governments. MGB XII had a BUR1 of 100% and a BUR2 of 99.96%. Accordingly, all the required Means of Verification (MOV) are readily available.
GEOHAZARD ADVISORY ON INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE IN MINDANAO ISLAND
Based on PAGASA’s weather forecast the SOCCSKSARGEN region will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting the whole of Mindanao. Moderate to heavy rains experienced in the region may trigger landslides in elevated and mountainous areas, while flood may be experienced within low-lying areas adjacent to rivers. Flash flood is also possible along narrow creeks and rivers.
Anent to this, this Office encourages the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (LDRRMOs) in the region to refer to the MGB-XII geohazard maps and information in identifying safe areas for evacuation and evacuation routes. Utilization of these maps and information in the conduct of information drives to inform residents living in geologically hazardous areas to take precautionary measures is encouraged.

MGB XII’S CHRISTMAS LANDMARK SIGNIFIES HOPE
MGB XII’s giant Christmas Tree in its office entrance held at the grounds of the Prime Regional Center in Barangay Carpenter Hill was lauded by the PasKoronadal Judges on December 19, 2020.
The MGB XII giant Christmas Tree stands at 7.9 meters high with a 5 meters diameter base. It was constructed from bamboo sticks, fish nets, printed designs of Christmas balls, minerals and Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs). The said decorations symbolize hope and a reflection of the current situation in the office, respectively.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII key personnel convened to discuss the Bureaus’ Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP) drafts for its the finalization in Koronadal City.
The Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP) is a document containing strategies and mechanism of a government agency/ public sector organization that ensures a continuous delivery of public services amidst any disruption based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 33, s 2018.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau XII renewed its International Organization for Standard (ISO) certification through the Russian Register on October 13-14, 2021, in Koronadal City.
The Russian Register external auditors Juvie Dela Cruz and Jogee Dela Cruz assessed the performance of MGB XII’s Integrated Management System on its requirements of the standards for ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Safety and Health Management System).
The previous certification on OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Administration Series) is migrated to ISO 45001:2018 which is intended for an effective management of OH&S. With its alignment to the QMS, the office is committed to satisfy the customer’s needs, deliver quality products and services, and comply with its legal obligations. The integration of ISO 14001:2015 into MGBXII’s operational processes also enhances its environmental protection responsibilities and performance in a systematic manner.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII attended the 5-days Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training course conducted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XII on September 13 until September 17, 2021 via online Zoom platform.
An EOC is activated in response to an on-going incident or emergency. It can also be in the context of a threat during an event. EOC is a facility equipped with trained personnel and resources that coordinate and support the management of an incident or hazard-prone emergencies. It manages a link between the Incident Command System (ICS) and the Response Clusters.

MGB XII employees participated the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) seminar in coordination with the JGDC Occupational Safety and Health Consultancy on September 3, 2021 via online Zoom application.
At least 100 participants coming from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) XII, DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENRO), DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO) and MGB Regional Offices attended the seminar.
