  • GEOHAZARD ADVISORY RE: EFFECTS OF INTER-TROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE (ITCZ) IN SOCCSKSARGEN REGION

    - Tuesday, 18 May 2021

Based on PAGASA’s 24 Hour Weather Forecast issued at 4:00AM of May 18, 2021, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms . This may bring rains in the region that may trigger landslides in elevated and mountainous areas, while flood may be experienced within low-lying areas adjacent to rivers. Flash flood is also possible along narrow creeks and rivers. Coastal municipalities and barangays in the region may experience surges brought by strong winds which are potential to generate flooding in these areas.

This Office encourages the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (LDRRMOs) in the region to refer to the MGB-XII geohazard maps and information in identifying safe areas for evacuation and appropriate evacuation routes. Utilization of these maps and data to properly inform residents living in geologically hazardous areas to take precautionary measures is highly encouraged.
